Featured Case

Tran Thi Tien was prosecuted by the Ministry of Health under the Medical Registration Act 1997, the Health Products Act 2007 and the Private Hospitals and Medical Clinics Act 1980. Her ex-husband had reported on her for allegedly illegally administering botox and other beauty treatments in their HDB flat. After a full trial, she was acquitted of this charge. She was separately convicted on a charge of applying two stitches to a wound for a friend who had come to her for help instead of going to a doctor. The Prosecution sought a jail term of 3 weeks. We successfully advocated for a fine, which the Court fixed at $10,000. The Prosecution initially filed an appeal, but later withdrew this.
